Giant's Causeway in Ireland

Hello Classmates,
today I will tell you something about the Giant's Causeway in Ireland, we heard something about it from Mrs Brunsch on Friday.

It's a UNESCO world heritage. It consists of consistent-shaped 40,000 Basaltpillars. It's 60 million years old and the greatest ones are up to 12 meters high.

The Irish Legend about a Giant named Fionn mac Cumhaill relates that he built it to protect his feet from the water, so that he could go to an Irish giant to marry his daughter.

So now I told you enough about it, just look by yourselves - it really looks amazing.

STONEHENGE - more than 4000 years old - Prehistoric Monument

21st June - MIDSUMMER SOLSTICE

21st December - MIDWINTER SOLSTICE

In only four days there will be "the longest night" of the year - our ancient ancestors celebrated this day every year - they were hopeful that the sun was going up, days would become longer and life would start again...

...

CIRCE du SOLEIL - Sonnencircus

Thank you so much, dear Simone, for this wonderful hint. It has nothing to do with English, but with our school circus, and really is a good example for the perfection and variety of things that can be shown in a circus. The artists belong among the best of the world.
I think I have been watching YouTube videos for quite an hour before I finally chose these four videos, but there are many more. We can't travel to Frankfort or Salzburg to watch it live - but we can watch it here on YouTube. This circus has many different faces, but it is mostly very colourful and energetic.

Here you will be able to see a performance with water and diving artists:

Now, watch the fantastic flying man, which I liked the best of the three, but go to YouTube and just find more... to relax... and dream ...

What a wonder these artists don't just crash into each other - I am full of admiration:

BT Team Ellen

Hey classmates,
now in my first entry, I will show you what Ellen MacArthur did during the last decade.
The story about her that is published in our English textbook is 9 years old. Now she doesn't sail alone any more, now she has a Team. The BT Team Ellen. I added some information about it.

I hope you will like it

with kind regards,

Daniel
